Oral Histories of Medical Anthropology. Positionings
Curare focuses on specific themes, on which we publish articles on an irregular basis; and we cordially invite you to participate. In 2011, Curare published a call for submissions about the oral history of medical anthropology. The aim was to supplement then-contemporary efforts at reflecting on the history of ethnomedicine and medical anthropology in German-speaking countries through reprinted articles from the early days by drawing on personal accounts of and interviews with living witnesses. The invitation encouraged to recall, position oneself, disagree with others, and document events in diverse genres in order to see “which different cohorts and factions become visible, which continuities and ruptures exist in the history, which questions and socio-political concerns remain, and which have changed or newly emerged” (VOSS 2011: 163–164). This series is being expanded on an ongoing basis in no particular order. We encourage you to contact us if you would like to contrbute to this series: curare@agem.de.
